  1. This is a BETA TEST version of MiNT 0.96.
  2. IT IS NOT THE FINAL RELEASE OF MiNT 0.96. It still
  3. contains MANY bugs. It's very messy, and probably
  4. incompatible with tons of stuff.

  6. Use this only if you make regular backups of your
  7. hard drive, have no fear of mysterious crashes,
  8. and have "nerves of steel". Also, it's distributed
  9. only in source code form, so it will be useful
  10. to you only if you have a C compiler and know
  11. (very well) how to use it. This is deliberate; this
  12. version of MiNT will not be supported by me, so I want
  13. only users who are capable of compiling the program
  14. themselves to use it.

  16. I'm sending this out in its unfinished form because
  17. it seems quite likely that the "final" release of
  18. MiNT 0.96 will take much longer than I had hoped.
  19. I'm desperately trying to finish my thesis, because
  20. in a few weeks I'm moving halfway across North America.
  21. So, basically, I have very little time to spend on MiNT
  22. these days. I wanted to make the new features of version
  23. 0.96 available (many people have requested copies), but
  24. since I don't have time to support MiNT right now (and
  25. since this version still isn't debugged) I decided to
  26. make this a source-code only release. Please see the
  27. file "copying" (which is different from the standard MiNT
  28. copying conditions) and respect my wishes not to have
  29. binary versions of this unfinished code distributed.

  32. but due to time constraints I may be very slow in replying
  33. to your reports; please do not be offended by this, I wish I
  34. did have more time!)
